Featuring Steph — Manager of People & Operations at Offstreet

“Offstreet is a team-first mindset always, and that is something that we really value.”
Steph will tell you she’s a night owl and a sports mom whose favorite advice is to “keep it simple.” But inside Offstreet’s walls, she’s also the quiet engine behind a culture that moves fast, solves hard problems together, and shows up for university partners like they’re part of our own team.
In this conversation, Steph pulls back the curtain on what our culture looks like on the inside — and how it translates into support that universities can feel.
While many tech companies branched out and chose to go fully virtual, Offstreet chose intentional hybrid. We’ve also made a deliberate effort to hire local talent so we can work in person together and maintain a strong in-office collaborative team.
That choice wasn’t nostalgia — it was strategy.
“Our model allows the best of both worlds,” Steph explains. “We’re flexible when people need to work remotely, but we value in-person collaboration.” She’s seen the difference in speed and trust: “With experience, you can talk through something by turning to the person beside you and solve it in five minutes versus having a Slack thread that has 100 back-and-forth messages.”
Those five-minute shoulder-tap conversations add up. They help build the “family feel” Steph talks about — where trust forms faster, feedback is more direct, and big decisions don’t linger in limbo.
“We want clients to feel like they’re part of the team and not just an account,” Steph adds. “That starts with how we work together internally.”
At Offstreet, collaboration is how work gets done. Different strengths meet shared ownership.
“Everyone on the team brings a different set of strengths, and we all lean on each other. If there’s a tricky challenge, it’s never left in isolation.”
That spirit shows up in the numbers, too. In June 2024, we were a 14-person team. Fast forward just over a year, and we’ve grown to 31 — a 121% increase in headcount since then. From 2023 to 2024, our team grew by 50%, and from 2024 to 2025, we’ve already grown another 72% with 13 new hires this year (and more to come). Each person adds new energy, perspective, and expertise that makes the “team-first” mindset stronger.
Some of our best days are when we roll out a new feature — the energy in the office is buzzing with celebrations, chatter, and cheering. Every person plays a role: developers ship the code, marketing shares it with schools, and account managers get to highlight it to the universities they know will love it.
And when we bring on a new university partner, the same thing happens: the whole team celebrates. Even those not directly involved get looped in, because everyone recognizes the impact. Today, we’re proud to work with nearly 100 universities across North America, each one benefiting from the full strength of the Offstreet team.
As Steph puts it: “It doesn’t feel transactional on their side… They’ve partnered with us. Like we’re on the same team.” She also shares: “I think our university clients can really feel that from us — when a client gets onboarded, they have an account manager—but really, they get the whole Offstreet team behind them. We want them to be successful. They want us to be successful. It’s a true partnership.”
When asked to describe the Offstreet vibe, Steph paused — and smiled.
“I would have to say… high energy, positive, resourceful. We’re scrappy. We figure things out really quickly. We problem-solve and don’t shy away from a challenge.”
That shows up in a hundred small ways: hands go up when something breaks; wins are celebrated (big and small); and no one has to choose between “good vibes” and “high standards.” At Offstreet, we live in both.
Steph has seen growth before, but she says Offstreet’s is unique.
“Since I started, it’s grown really quickly. I’ve been in the technology industry a long time, and I’ve seen growth in different forms, but the Offstreet growth is very, very special. Every person we bring onto the team adds something new — a fresh perspective, a creative edge — and raises the bar for everyone.”
She sees her role as making sure scale doesn’t dilute culture.
“Part of my role as we’re scaling is supporting a larger team, but making sure that even if we’re a team of 50, it still feels like when we first started — connected, authentic, and living our values day in and day out.”
That culture shows in the numbers, too. Even through rapid growth and organizational change, Offstreet has maintained a 100% rating of employees who say they’re proud to work here.
Steph sums it up best:
“We almost doubled in size in a short amount of time and still had 100% of employees say they were proud to work here. The bottom line is when the team is happy and bought into what we’re doing, everyone feels connected — and ultimately, that’s great for the universities we’re serving, too.”
